Peptide-Carrier Conjugation Print E-mail

Client supplied peptide (5 milligrams) is conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) or BSA using either maleimide or carbodiimide coupling chemistry. For the preferred maleimide method, the peptide must include at least a terminal cysteine. The carbodiimide method will work for most other peptides but can link internal to the peptide, possibly disrupting the antigenic structure of the resulting immunogen The conjugate is purified away from unreacted peptide and supplied frozen.

 

 

Quantity

 

 

Approximately two milligrams of KLH-peptide conjugate per reaction. This is sufficient quantity to immunize two chickens or two rabbits 10 - 13 times each.

If you have extra peptide, why not do a second conjugation using another protein? This way you can use the second antigen in ELISA without the interferences of the anti-carrier antibodies present in the immune antibody sample. This is also a good methodology for immunoaffinity purification when the second conjugate is immobilized on a solid support.
